Admission Regulations for Short-term Chinese Language Program, Summer 2008
Foreign Cultural Education Center, Shanghai Conservatory of Music
Ⅰ Introduction
The Foreign Cultural Education Center of Shanghai Conservatory of Music is located on campus, which is situated in the center of the city. It is within a few minutes’ walk of Middle Huaihai Rd., one of Shanghai’s major downtown streets. Easy access to Shanghai’s educational, cultural, shopping and entertainment centers will provide students with a unique opportunity to experience Chinese life, culture and traditional music firsthand.
The center runs both long-term and short-term Chinese language programs, and the lessons are taught by experienced Chinese language teachers. We provide a 28-day short-term Chinese language program this summer from July 14th 2008 to August 8th 2008.
Ⅱ Class Type
There are three levels of class: elementary, intermediate and advanced, with a maximum of 15 students per class.
Ⅲ Course Arrangement
Registration takes place on July 13th, 2008. The courses begin on July 14th, 2008 and finish on August 8th , 2008.
Classes run every day from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.——11:30 a.m.
IV Accommodation
Accommodation: students may choose to live in the International Students’ Dormitory of the Conservatory. All the rooms are equipped with furniture, Color TV, air-conditioning and bedding.
Ⅴ Classroom
The classrooms are located in the newly- built class building, which opened for use in March, 2008. The new building is modern and well equipped. All the classrooms are clean and fitted with brand new teaching facilities.

Ⅶ Fees
Registration fee: RMB 200 or USD 30
Tuition: RMB 2800
Accommodation: double room: RMB 35 per person per day
Single room (small one): RMB 60 per person per day
Single room (large one): RMB 70 per person per day
Tuition does not cover cost of textbooks.
Ⅷ Details for Application
1. We accept applications until the program’s capacity is reached. The student will be granted a certificate for study in Shanghai Conservatory of Music upon successful completion of the program.
2. Required materials: completed “Short-Term Chinese Language Program Application Form”, copy of passport, one passport-sized photo, application fee
3. The application form can be downloaded from the website of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (www.shcmusic.edu.cn) or can be obtained by request from the International Students Office. The form can be submitted by fax: 86-21-64310305 or by email: shcmfso@yahoo.com. Application fees should be paid through:
1) Applicants within China may come in person to the office, or may transfer the fee to our bank account:

Note:
a. Tuition must be paid in full at registration. Tuition can’t be refunded after courses commence.
b. Students may choose to take a course in Chinese flute or Erhu by interest (pending registration of at least 5 students per class). Those who take the course must provide their own musical instrument.
c. During the study period, we will arrange for the students to attend a concert. Details will be provided later.
d. The conservatory reserves the right to alter the time for visiting the Shanghai Museum if circumstances necessitate.
